NUNSA week recap
The 2017 edition of the NUNSA week was one that blew the
mind of everyone away. From the publicity to the Opening ceremony, down to the
medical outreach and crowned with the most talked about dinner ceremony were
all hits back to back. Let me not forget to had the spice of the week such as
Project Sing and the Mr. & Miss NUNSA contest
A QUICK RECAP.
The week started with a massive publicity when NUNSites came
out in their numbers to shake the entire University community. It was a fun
filled atmosphere as talents were displayed in varying forms. In fact, it was
so interesting such that people outside the department joined in the jamboree.
As part of side attractions, recharge cards were given out and the programs of
the week was spelt of to people.
The opening Ceremony was the first of its kind. It started
at about 11am with the opening prayer which was taken by Lady Evangelist
Egberongbe Adebisi. Up next was the recitation of the
anthems(national, school,Nursing) taken by the NUNSA choir. The occasion was graced
by the high and mighty in the society such as the Chaiman of the Ado-Odo Ota
local government Engr Saheed Alagbe, and the keynote speaker Barrister
Olaluwoye Peter, the founder of the Foreign links campus and senatorial
aspirant Dr. Fola Akinosun, the newest Professor in Nursing, Prof. Omolola
Irinoye, the Head of department Dr. Olufemi Ayandiran.
The opening ceremony was an intriguing one as both speakers
gave thought provoking lectures on their
topics. The MC also thrilled the audience with jokes and his interactive
question and answer sessions. The high point of the event was the launching of
the maiden edition of the NUNSA magazine by both guests and some notable
NUNSites. The atmosphere went agog as everyone followed with keen interest. The
last session of the day was the Speech contest between the Obafemi Awolowo
University(host), the Osun state university, and the University of Ibadan. They
all tackled the topic and the winner was eventually announced. University of
Ibadan came first, Obafemi Awolowo University(host) was the first runnerup and
Osun state university was the second runner up. Certificates of participation
was presented to all representatives from each school and awards was presented
to them. The opening ceremony ended with a closing prayer. Food was also made
available to every NUNSite present.
The day 2 was for Project Sing. The 8 contestants performed
the songs they were given and at the end of the whole show, 3 contestants were
eventually put on probation. They were contestant 5 OBADARE, contestant 6
BLESSING and Contestant 7 BUSAYO.
Day 3 was a say to touch lives and be a blessing to the
community. The health outreach station was at the cradle of the Yoruba race,
the Ooni’s palace. There, BMI, Malaria testing, blood pressure and health
counseling were being done for free. It was one day Ile-Ife will always
remember
Day 4 was a day of maximum jamboree as fun fare was taken to
the next level. The ancient Erin-Ijesha water falls was visited. The adventure
is still fresh in our memories as we went to the topmost, the 5th
floor. It was just an exciting moment seeing everyone in their various
‘outta school mood’ and catching the fun
big time.
Day 5 which was the grand finale and the most talked about
was in two phases. The football match and the dinner. Let me start with the
football match. The match was between the OAUTH SON vs NUNSA_OAU both male and
female categories respectively. The female team of the NUNSA_OAU team defeated
their SON counterpart with a goal to nil while the male team of the OAUTH SON
managed to defeat the indomitable NUNSA_OAU male team 4 goals to nil.
The dinner was lit, I mean, it was one in town. It started
with the red carpet. You need to see the beautiful and handsome faces that
graced the occasion, all in the dopest suit and gorgeous dinner wears. The
master of ceremony, Don Sonorous was the killer. He was just in total control
of the occasion the way he does it best. The Grand finale performances also
thrilled everyone, also, the Mr. & Miss NUNSA contest was chipped in.
Alas, Irekponor Theodora emerged as the project sing winner
with a prize of #10,000. The 1st runner up was Mbah Uchechuckwu and
the 2nd runner up was Osuporu Ifeoluwa.
Esan Raphael and Bolatito Babatope were crowned Mr. and Miss
NUNSA respectively. Music, food, and fun were in abundance. The dinner ended
with the vote of thanks by the social director, Kolapo Adeola. Special guest
were ex-presidents Akintunde Adeyemo and Omo-Imafidon graced the occasion.
TRUST ME, every moment was one to be remembered.
